The African Civilian Response Capacity for Peace Support Operations (AFDEM) supports peace support and humanitarian relief operations through the management of a roster of African civilians with professional expertise and skills suitable for peace support operations in Africa and beyond.
AFDEM is the only such civilian response capacity on the African continent and it boosts of 10 years experience in roster management, having been established in 2000. It is funded by the Royal Norwegian government and has its head office in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
AFDEM Mandate
To support peacekeeping, peacebuilding and humanitarian missions in Africa and worldwide through the management of a rapid deployment capacity of African Civilians equipped with professional expertise and skills relevant to such missions.
