| Job Description | The senior technical specialists (STS) will be responsible for program design and management within their component of the overall project and for ensuring that project activities within their technical area achieve anticipated results. The STS will, among other things: - Work with the Chief of Party to develop, implement, monitor and revise as necessary the project’s overall field strategy; - Provide the technical leadership to design and manage project activities within their area of competence; - Provide technical guidance and backstopping to project staff, subcontractors, grant recipients and other, direct stakeholders; and - Provide expertise for quality assurance and quality control over all activities falling within their technical domain. Minimum Qualifications include: - A minimum of 15 years of successful technical and program management experience in their area of technical expertise (see above areas cited) including at least 6 years’ professional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior experience in the Democratic Republic of Congo is highly preferred. - A graduate degree in a relevant field directly related to one or more of the following: a. agricultural science b. agricultural economics c. value chain development d. organizational development e. small business development - A minimum of 3 years’ prior experience as long-term technical staff on a USAID funded project; - Demonstrated project management experience including experience supervising other technical staff; - Ability to work effectively with a wide range of collaborating partners including national, regional, and local government offices; private sector organizations; community based organizations; NGOs; and donors; - Knowledge of and experience with USAID operational procedures; - Excellent interpersonal, writing, and communications skills; - Outstanding ability to share knowledge and experience, identify and disseminate best practices, and work in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams. |
